Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell (born August 25, 1949) is an American TV chef personality. She also was an instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education. She is the host of The Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef as well as co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, a Food Network host who has spiky blond wigs and a pumped-up persona, shows how you can cook dishes that are restaurant quality at home, using easy methods. Chef Burrell has worked and studied in some of the most prestigious New York restaurants. He has also competed in Iron Chef America and the culinary landscape of Italy. As a child in the upper reaches of New York area, Chef Burrell discovered a love for food and cooking early on. The Culinary Institute of America was the next step for her following her graduation with a Bachelor of Arts in English as well as Communications in the fall of 2004 from Canisius College Buffalo NY. The Culinary Institute of America was an amazing learning experience for me. I didn't have enough knowledge, couldn't achieve enough and couldn't push myself enough. Following graduation, Burrell worked at La Bottega del 30 in Tuscany as well as La Taverna del Lupo (in Umbria) while attending an Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. While in Italy Burrell developed a deep appreciation and understanding of Italian culinary and cultural traditions. This is a huge influence on how Burrell approaches her cuisine. Burrell is a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which brightens the lives of children who are struggling. She also is an Juvenile diabetes Research Foundation Celebrity Advocate where she promotes awareness of juvenile diabetics. She is a frequent guest presenter at conferences, and she travels the country in her mentorship role. Anne often has mentioned throughout her professional career that she feels so fortunate to have the opportunity to be able to share what's essential to her.
